About Culture

Culture is a shoe brand made from the finest Italian leather and is produced in the famous Italian Shoe Valley in Le Marche, Italy. “I create fashion and products infused with, and inspired by Hip Hop,” says the founder of Culture, Edward Griffin. Fashion and Hip Hop are very powerful medias and Culture realizes its prowess in creating a brand that goes beyond Hip Hop and embraces all cultures. Yes, Hip Hop in itself is a culture, it’s the way people walk, talk, dress, look etc. Culture plans to make an impact on the sneaker industry by creating high quality shoes for men and women while also bridging the gap between a person’s way of living, being fashionable and trendsetting, while representing their culture with a purpose. Everyone celebrates their culture in different ways; the backwards e represents the uniqueness in all of us.

F! F! F! – Special Edition [July & August Update]

August 28, 2015 by AshleYYY
My Blog
2015, AIDS, Artists, AshleYYY, AshleYYY Music, AshleYYYMusic, Awareness, Bible, Cancer, Culture, Gifts, Goapele, God, hair, hhucit, HHUCIT Music Group, Independence Day, Inspiration, July 4th, Juneteenth Day, Live Shows, Recharging, Rest, Scripture, Shoes, Stress, TeamAshleYYY, Thoughts, Triple Threat

Ya’ll know what time it is… FUN FACT FRIDAY!! I am marking this as a special edition, simply because I have so much to share…and it’s been a minute lol. Instead of just FIVE facts, I’m gonna double that and give you TEN. 🙂 Holllerrr!

  1. I’ve decided to give myself (and my team) some much needed time to RECHARGE. I always praise God for every opportunity to hit the stage; on the other hand, it’s nice to have a small break. The next couple of weeks I’ll be able to clear my head, catch up on work, REST, and focus more on songwriting & vocal training. (Oh- and enjoy as dairy as much as I can, hehee!)
  2. I took a dive off the deep end and tried something new… NEW HAIR. So one of my last appearances required that I perform at the awards show + be present for the red carpet/awards ceremony. My team and I wanted to spice things up for this special event; so we went and shopped for hair, and had the stylist create & shape my wig 🙂 I know some women say, “I am not my hair” and I agree with that, but I also believe that my hair is a BIG part of ME. It represents part of who I am as a women and I take pride in it. I thank my #GlamSquad for making me feel comfortable, teaching me, and for all of their hard work put in that week. I’m happy I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried something new. Only time will tell if I decide to try it again… Lord knows I love my natural curls. Lol [New post coming soon with more photos/footage at the AMS event!] IMG_1755
  3. Still learning how to control my THOUGHTS… Sometimes we stress ourselves out over the things we CAN’T control, and that’s the stuff that gets us every time.
  4. Just looking out the window and off the top of my head: I’m THANKFUL to be here, living in Georgia. I love Atlanta and I love the people God has placed in my life and the opportunities He continues to give me to grow…
  5. On JULY 4TH, some friends & family came over to fellowship. What an awesome time it was. 🙂 We had brunch prepared, an obstacle course, sports, dinner, slushies & more! Aside from the guys lighting fireworks in the rain (and everybody taking off soon as they lit up lol..) one of my favorite activities was playing “Who Am I?” only we decided to go with the theme of Juneteenth Day on Independence Day. We each had a person who is a part of current events, a black leader, politician, entertainer and/or activist. At the end of the game we went around the room and educated one another more about each person & why they are important to our history. – Thank Ya’ll so much for a great day/night! IMG_1756
  6. I saw GOAPELE live in concert at Center Stage for the first time! I absolutely LOVED each set. This concert was different than most for me. More mellow. But so soulful! Beautiful lyrics were sang all night long. It was definitely a more grown up audience. Really enjoyed myself 🙂 and OMG she is just radiant! What a beauty. Her & her band did they thing. #inspired… IMG_1757
  7. …Thankful for EVERY artist I see rock a stage..no matter who they are. I love to be INSPIRED as an artist myself. Nowhere to go but up, as long as we keep perfecting every craft. My team BRINGS IT! Come support & see us perform. Definitely an experience. I promise you that 🙂 Stay in the loop for every show by adding your name & email to the #TeamAshleYYY Newsletter (on the right side of this page) and following me on all social media @AshleYYYMusic. IMG_1759
  8. Been meeting some really great TALENT everywhere I go. Wow, Atlanta! You amaze me lol. Shout out to all of the talent, no matter what field you are in. If God called you to do it, then walk in it & do yo thang! Praise God for every gift He has given us to share with the world. IMG_1760IMG_1726IMG_1761
  9. My FAVORITE SCRIPTURES are Revelation 21:4 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” / Revelation 22:4 “And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.” 🙂 Amen.

My First Experience at the 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards!

1Soooo guess who attended the BET HIP HOP AWARDS 2014 AND worked the Green Carpet beforehand?! ……MEEE! 🙂 The awards are held in Atlanta, GA every year and I finally got to attend thanks to Mr. Griffin, CEO of Hip Hop U-C-It LLC. I was a photographer/publicist of HHUCIT for the evening lol. It was a great learning experience for me ….oh what to do when you are just tHRoWn in the mix and have to deliver! Lol

5

During and after the first interview, my heart was racing and I was hot! (I sweat easily too smh) All that anticipation built up before meeting the first person. We did well though! Renita, my fellow publicist, took the lead in the beginning. (OMG, she was a natural with the mic 🙂 ) Overall, our team worked well together. 6

Thankfully, we were given “cheat sheets” from BET to familiarize ourselves with each person that would be walking the carpet. (Now this came in handy!) Once I saw someone down the line, I would prepare myself (Check the cheat sheet), ask my team background info (“Who the heck are they?!”), and think of questions to ask that individual (“What award are you nominated for tonight?”). After a few interviews back to back, we was IN THERE maaane! Lol Shook off the nerves…“Shake it off! Shake it off! Hoo-hoo-hooh!” (*Singing Taylor Swift in my head*)

3 I have a tendency to be very shy when I get to these types of events (“But AshleYYY, you’re a performer. You’re an artist yourself!”)…I know, I know. I’m slowly breaking out of that shell. Never forget celebrities are people, just like US! LOL

So long story short, after meeting a few people, I started to get the hang of things & picked up the pace. I had to remember to just be AshleYYY, let my personality come out in the interviews, and make everything conversational. By the end up the night, I was cracking jokes with artists, snapping my fingers with witty actresses, and taking selfies with Love & Hip Hop Reality Stars 🙂 lol See more of my photos below! AND most definitely don’t forget to visit HIPHOPUCIT.com & subscribe for ALL of your entertainment news HERE!

(I enjoyed seeing Brandy, MC Lyte, Yo-Yo & Queen Latifah perform live 🙂 AH!) Leave your comments below, have a GREAT weekend and expect another post & NEW YouTube video from me soon!

Hey everybody!

I need you all like never before; I have been a part of a focus group over the past month where we’ve been given an opportunity to create our very own sneaker! The shoe brand is called Culture, and we created everything including the design, style, color and concept of the sneaker. This isn’t just any ordinary sneaker, but it’s a sneaker with a purpose. We have created a limited edition sneaker for men and women to help continue the fight against the deadly epidemic, HIV/AIDS. New Culture pic

We have partnered with the R.A.P On AIDS Campaign and we will donate 100% of the profits to help combat the deadly epidemic. The profits will continue supporting the country-wide initiative that engages the disadvantaged and uneducated communities on the effects of HIV/AIDS in an effort to get people tested for HIV.

Culture: The R.A.P On AIDS Edition is on sale NOW! This is a limited edition sneaker and will ONLY be available until Monday, July 7th, 2014. When you use the discount code: XEOWDBJTYQM you will receive $15 off of your purchase! In addition, the first 25 people to purchase a pair of Culture’s will receive a bundle of goodies! That’s right; you’ll receive a matching Culture shirt, Culture wristband, alternate laces, and a code for an in-home HIV test. When you purchase a pair of Culture’s you are helping someone else. Remember it’s everybody’s responsibility to raise awareness and with our Culture, you can do it with style!

F! F! F! – Rap Battles, Twin Hotties, Culture & More!

May 30, 2014 by AshleYYY
My Blog
2014, AshleYYY, AshleYYY Music, ATL Live on the Park, Atlanta Braves, Auditions, Birthday Bash, Caribbean Carnival, Culture, Culture shoes, Dancer, Drumline, F! F! F!, Fun Fact Friday!, hhucit, HHUCIT Music Group, Joe, McDonalds, R.A.P ON AIDS, Rap battle, Twin Hotties, V103

Yes, it’s that time of the month – FUN FACT FRIDAY! So May has actually been a really busy month for me – feels like the longest month ever! Lol I’ve had an adventurous last couple of weeks. Allow me to share a few moments with you all below 🙂

 1. My twin sister, Erin came to visit me for a WHOLE WEEK! It was a well needed visit. I’ve been missing the people that mean the most to me back home, so it was nice to have her here with me 🙂 #TwinPower! Now of course we recorded lots of corny videos (some of which may be posted at a later date lol) and took many photos of our time spent together. (Read my blog on Erin’s visit here!)

2. I feel like I have just been dancing my butt off this month! Lol Man! I went on about 5 auditions this month (3 out of 5 – dancing). There was one that just really stuck with me – Drumline: A New Beat auditions. This was a two day process, therefore a lot of passion, sweat & tears went into it. I learned 4 completely different routines in 2 days & killed all of em! Lol No lie. Now, I was in the Marching Band back in high school (clarinet player), but never had any experience doing dance team drills; so this was a really cool experience! The dance style is so uniformed & sassy! 🙂 Sadly, I wasn’t one of the twenty something ladies chosen for the TV movie. 🙁 But as always, evaluate your performance, take notes, learn from it & KEEP IT MOVING! 🙂 Praise God. Picstitch 2Picstitch 1

3. I won a RAP BATTLE! LOL … So I went to audition (yes, another one lol) for a chance to perform at ‘Birthday Bash’, one of the biggest music concerts in Atlanta, GA. McDonald’s is sponsoring ‘5 Minutes of Fame’ and was looking for talent. I attended the last audition and of course it was a large turnout! The staff at V103 (The People Station) did a raffle – so if your name was called, you got ONE minute to perform. At the end of the night, judges picked their top 4, and now viewers must vote online… yada yada…so I stuck around to see how I could WIN free tix to the concert, since I wouldn’t be performing lol.

Beyonce, of V103, asked for 4 ladies & 4 guys to participate in a “Freestyle Rap Battle” – I raised my hand. Lol She picked me! There were two rounds; the first two ladies went against ea other (winners were based off of applause), then I went against the third contestant. *Thank God it was a cappella!* I performed ‘The S-H-I-T’ and at the end of my verse, I did a little bit of singing. (I think that was bonus points for me lol) I won that round! Then, I had to go against the other winner. I performed ‘Rock the Mic’ but first got the crowd clapping with me, and then I DELIVERED! LOL Praise God! It feels good to be a versatile artist; I just KNEW my rapping skills would come in handy and I’d win a battle one day! Haha! :O 🙂

4. Like I said, this has been an adventurous month! (I’m trying to keep this down to 5 facts only! :o) So I’ll sum these events up together…ALL three of these were a first for me!

ATL Live on the Park – There was some amazing talent in the building, from singers to songwriters & super producers. We had a blast! I even got to meet R&B singer, Joe!

Atlanta Braves Baseball Game – We had some great seats! At least 4 baseballs flew past our section! Lol After the Braves won, there was a fireworks show!

Atlanta Caribbean Carnival – Omg. I just can’t get over how HOT it was that whole day lol Despite the weather, we did lots of walking, met new people, and saw how they ‘get down’ in other cultures! Ashley & Joe

5. Speaking of cultures, 🙂 did you guys know I helped launch a new campaign?! That’s right! I have been in a focus group over the past month and given the opportunity to create our very own sneaker! But not just any sneaker – a sneaker with PURPOSE. Culture has partnered with R.A.P On AIDS and will donate 100% of the profits to help combat the deadly epidemic. Culture: The R.A.P On AIDS Edition, is a red & peanut butter, unisex shoe. This is a limited edition sneaker & will be on sale for 30 DAYS ONLY, starting June 1st,2014. (Enter your info. on the site here & be sure to follow Culture’s social media!) Please #Support this great cause! Culture Profile Picture

Thank You! Thank You for tuning in & have a safe weekend! Goodbye month of May; let’s see what June has in store 😉 Talk to ya’ll soon…

God Bless,

~AshleYYY
