GOOD MORNING WORLD!

I’m proud to announce that I am the official choreographer for the upcoming stage play, “FAT GIRL DIARIES,” right here in Atlanta! This is my first time EVER working on a play, so I’m thrilled to be able to experience something new. Over the past 10 years I’ve been able to shine as a dancer, a performer, and a choreographer on stage. Now I have an opportunity to create movement for actors & dancers in a different capacity than what I’m used to. Awesome. Thank You to the creator of Fat Girl Diaries, Miss Learical Jonez, for presenting me with the opportunity to showcase my talents on a new stage. I am very happy to be a part of this and would for you all to share this experience with me!

Would you leave your husband if he cheated, even if you had a child together? What would you do if your boyfriend of 3 years called you his friend…in front of his friends? How about your husband constantly criticizing you because you don’t look like the women on TV?

Join the women of LJEG as they act out their diaries on stage! Starring Xavier Lewis of Americas Got Talent, Big Ray of V103, Grande Beauty, Tanisha Banks & many more!!!

Bossip is looking for the next R&B Star! They recently began Season 2 of their Fresh Cuts contest and I MADE THE CUT! I performed one of the first songs I ever wrote, “Stutter,” and the judges seemed to genuinely enjoy my performance & original song. This season the judges are Janee Bolden, Managing Editor of Bossip, & Zonnique, R&B Singer/Former member of the OMG Girlz. I’m very excited because this is a big opportunity for me to perform at Kandi Koated Nights!

What it izz?! Happy New Year World… Hoping each and every one of you had a great holiday season. Special birthday shout out to one of my besties, Jess… Hope you had a fun day 🙂 And while I’m at it…. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL MY FELLOW CAPRICORNS (and Aquarius babies lol). January is always a big month. I know so many ppl with bdays back to back. (My Mommy 🙂 , sisters, niece, nephews, friends & more family!) Here’s to another year of life! :*

So it’s that time of the year again, where I like to run down my fave moments. Only this time, I’ve decided to throw in some random & not so fun facts. Lol Here we go!

My 10 Year Class Reunion – This was awesome. I just knew I had to go back home for this event. You only get one 10 year reunion and I wanted to be there. 🙂 This trip gave me a chance to not only visit with my family & friends, but really catch up with people who played a major role in my childhood & teen years. Boy, did the memories come floating back! Everyone looked the same – just a lil’ older. If that makes sense. Lol I think it’s always important to go to those kinds of events with a positive attitude, and expect to have a good time. Thank You to the student council & all those who made that night possible. Rest in Peace to those we’ve lost along the way and much love & success to you all. One time for Shorewood High School… Class of OH Five! (Shorewood, WI)Class Reunion

Celebrating Halloween – My time had finally come. I put in the effort and the outcome was awesome. I decided I would dress up for Halloween! Lol See I had been slacking in October these past few years. So I planned a gathering (ya’ll know how much I love hosting 🙂 ), decorated my home (I had a field day in Walmart! What an adrenaline rush lol #lame), put on some scary movies, and dressed as the one & only, Selena Quintanilla!

I’ve heard people say that Halloween is the “Devil’s Holiday” and it may be, technically. IDK. I haven’t’ done all of my research. Lol But I do know that I’ve always been the kind of girl who loves being festive, playing games, being competitive, participating in Spirit Week for Homecoming at school, “Wear your Christmas Sweater to Work Day” lol etc. So I’ve always used this holiday as a time to dress up and indulge candy – and I see no harm in that. It’s also a fun time to pay homage to those who inspire us! Thank You Selena 🙂 RIP. Selena

Where Have My Curls Gone? And here goes my bitter rant. I’ll TRY to keep it short. As you all know, I’ve experienced heat damage. Few months ago, my hair was straightened, I washed it weeks later, and my curls were gone 🙁 It’s been about 4 1/2 months since, and I’m more at ease than before. I’m learning how to deal with it. Maybe it was God’s way of getting me to learn about my hair, appreciate it & learn how to take care of it. (I’m trying to find the good in all of this, guys! lol) Really though, I’m doing more reading and finding out basic things I never knew before. I always thought my hair was good & healthy because I’ve always been natural, never used chemicals, and rarely ever went to salons. But there is so much more to healthy hair…Taking care of yourself, managing stress, eating habits, your water intake, harmful sulfates in shampoos, the importance of satin bonnets & pillow cases! The list goes on. I’ve been doing my own hair since K5, guys. Ha! I’ve just always loved styling it. I had never read books or taken advice from a professional. Now I’m educating myself. Hair

Ya know, I guess it’s like having a natural talent, then having to still sharpen your skills. Long story short, I’m fine. Uh. Lol More mindful of what I put in my body … wearing more protective hairstyles, etc. My damage isn’t as bad as some other YouTubers I’ve seen, that have come a long way. So I’m hopeful that this time around, my curls will be healthier! Nooo, I haven’t decided to do a big chop or anything, buut it may be a good time to try something new… ?? 🙂 Hair Collage

Don’t Cry On Christmas – I went home for the holiday & left feeling so grateful. Thank You to everyone who made the time to visit with me. I know how busy schedules can be, esp during the holidays, and I appreciate all the efforts. Still didn’t get to see everyone I wanted to, but I did see the majority of my family. 🙂 We did our first gift exchange. I hadn’t video recorded on Christmas in years! As a child, my mom pulled out the video camera every Christmas and filmed the family opening gifts. It was nice to bring that back. 🙂 I’m an adult now, and forget that as I get older, so does everyone else! Haha. My siblings have kids, and it’s their generation for gifts! Gotta love the little ones, right? 🙂

As I left my mom’s house, I looked back at my youngest nephew standing in the doorway with my mom. Both with the biggest smiles on their faces. I had to walk back up the steps for another hug and kiss, see ya later. (I’m tearing up as I type this 🙁 ). As I got in the car, I began to think about how 5 days wasn’t enough… how Erin was down to ride all over Milwaukee with me (and not complain about how many times she watched my performances at each family member’s house lol)… I thought about how rushing or just feeling rushed takes away from being in the moment. I was so happy to see my family and was just reminded of how blessed I am. It was a reminder to relax and not get so caught up in everything else on life’s “To Do List.” One thing at a time. One day at a time. Be in the moment & don’t forget to enjoy it. Twins

RANDOM FACTS:

  • My eye has been twitching the past few weeks. Stress? Eye strain? Tiredness? IDK. But here I go diagnosing myself again… Maybe I’m on my smart phone and computers/laptops too much. I hate that much of what I do requires me to be online or looking at a screen. Just put the phone down.
  • “Nashville” has become one of my favorite new shows. Yes, I know it’s been on a few years, but I’m just now watching lol. Thank you Queen (my vocal coach) for putting me on to this show! I just finished the first season today and cried. Smh. When did I become such a crier?
  • Not so excited about managing loans, filing taxes & making appointments; but we all know it has to be done. So much more responsibility comes with getting older. Put your Big Girl Panties on.
  • I’ve recently realized & accepted that waiting in certain lines & big crowds gives me anxiety. HA! Seriously, I get an uneasy feeling & stressed just thinking about it… How long will the wait be? Will I lose my spot if I go pee? Will someone accuse me of skipping when I come back, EVEN though the person I came with is still standing there?! … Is it gonna be cold outside? Why does this remind me of waiting for the Milwaukee Transit city bus everyday in the middle of winter? 🙁 … I should have arrived earlier to the concert … OMG I can’t even see the band! … Will someone pop off once they realize I’ve been sneaking my way closer to the stage every five minutes? Annnd scene. (sigh)

Summertime Highlights! – “Rock The Mic” [VIDEO]

Hey World! Hope everyone had good weekend. I had the opportunity to perform at BODL: Battle of the Dance Lines 2015. The comp1etition took place at the Georgia World Congress Center and was filled with families, dancers, dance teams, and talent of all ages! This was my first time ever performing in the Sidney Young Auditorium – I love a BIG stage! It was awesome. Shout out to all of the young dancers: Keep perfecting your crafts! Imagine how great you’re going to be when you become an adult! Lol …I sometimes think about what it would be like now, if I wasn’t so scared to perform in front of others as a child. I waited until I became an adult – at least that’s when I stop letting that fear control me. So it’s always inspiring to see young people follow their passion at a very young age. Okay, now I’m done venting lol…

Juneteenth - Rock the Mic As mentioned in my previous blog, I have NEW performance footage for ya’ll! This past July I performed at the first International Bicycle & Music Festival (IBMF) in Stone Mountain, GA. This event was like a big, fun block party! I did a 15 minute set, and “Rock the Mic” was my closing piece. I had never performed this song in Georgia before. The first time I ever did this song was at Juneteenth in MKE back in 2013! Lol I LOVED the energy exchange on this piece, and couldn’t wait to add this to my live show. Watch us get down below! Don’t forget to subscribe guys 🙂

27 Things I’ve Discovered About Myself in 27 Years…

January 10, 2015 by AshleYYY
My Blog
2015, 27 Things I’ve Discovered, 28th Birthday, Adulthood, Artist, AshleYYY, AshleYYYMusic, ATL, Best Friends, Birthday, Bloating, Brain, Career, College, Comfortable, Cramps, Dreams, Eating Habits, Einstein, Finding yourself, God, Green, Hello Sunday Morning, hhucit, HHUCIT Music Group, Insanity, Joy, Labor, Lactose, Learning, Life Lessons, Love, Maturation, MKE, Nightmares, Proactiv, Smile, Stress, TeamAshleYYY, Think Positive, Truth, Wisebread, Women, Worry

I read a few blogs online about turning 28 years old. There was one quote I really liked. Someone wrote, “I like the sound of 28. I think it sounds youthful but with experience.” 🙂  ~ Seeing as I do a birthday blog every year, I thought it would be fun to do a list! Below you will find out 27 things about me & what I’ve learned before the tender age of 28. Lol *Warning: Reader Discretion is advised. I get real.*

1. “Girl, I’m too blessed to be stressed!” …Okay how many times have we said this before? That’s cute. I believe this statement, but I also believe STRESS IS REAL. Lol People get sick from stress. Stress can affect your relationships & the way you work. I believe my face broke out during stressful periods of my life! lol

2. “Worrying is like praying for what you don’t want.” The act of worrying is stressful in itself. I’m guilty of this. Sometimes you have so much on your mind; it keeps you up at night, and then gets in your dreams until you deal with it…

3. Dreams are important and meaningful. They reveal so much about our thoughts, our fears, & what we take in. Unresolved issues? They’ll show up somehow. The one thing you are afraid of – darn right, it always plays out in my dreams… then you wake up pissed or crying cuz it felt too real. ~ I believe dreams can be great reminders and/or wake up calls for things we need to confront in our daily lives. It’s also important to be mindful of what you do, what you watch… dabbling in the wrong things can stick with you. Do you “play” too much? Think bad thoughts? Speak negativity? Well we’ve got to control what we put inside of us. Keep thinking you suck at something, and then your brain thinks its okay because it doesn’t know what’s real and what isn’t. Then you start believing those thoughts & it becomes your reality.  – Speak & think LIFE! There’s power in the tongue. (That’s biblical!)

4. Sorry, did I just get too deep? I hope I haven’t lost anyone. Lol Just thinking out loud. I do that sometimes. 🙂

5. Sometimes I let myself get comfortable with being uncomfortable. SMH (I’ll write a song about it one day.)

6. “Crazy (Insanity) is doing the same thing over & over again expecting different results.” Lol. Albert Einstein hit the nail on the head with this one.

7. Proactiv does work. (For me at least lol) I never used to break out until I started wearing makeup & experiencing stress in my mid 20s!

8. I love HARD & I’m not afraid to love.

9. My mother has become one of my best friends. 🙂 (My twin sister, Erin, is pretty much my best friend. Thank God for that.)

10. You can learn a lot about yourself when there aren’t always so many people around you. I’ve gone from this busy body-social butterfly-sober party girl, to this young woman who actually just wants to chill on her 28th birthday. I don’t mind being low-key. Just as long as I get out and do something new every once in a while, ya know? I love me some good restaurant food too!

(…Okay, I’ll admit, if I were back home in MKE, I would def be spending time with my family & a few friends. But nothing extravagant. Maybe when I’m 30. lol)

11. I wanna see Taken 3, order a pepperoni pizza from Papa John’s & buy a birthday cake from Publix or Walmart for my birthday today. Not sure that I care to share either.

12. My favorite color is still green & will probably always be. I wear it so much! I get excited when I see different shades of green in the mall… (sneakers, clothing, scarves, tea pots, blenders, water bottles, you name it!!)

13. I really enjoy planning gatherings at my home & hosting. I even read articles on how to be a good host & houseguest.

14. I love reading Wisebread. Type in any question you may have or need some ideas for something and I guarantee you’ll find it there. Awesome. (Wisebread.com <<I’ve talked about this before guys.)

15. I’m learning to appreciate the clothing in the women’s section. For the first time I tried on clothes in Petites. Unfortunately, the pants didn’t fit me right. I’ll give it another shot one day. Lol Until then, I’m still all up and thru Junior’s clothing! Heyyy young girl! haha.

16. I am a phenomenal songwriter. I know how to tell a story 🙂 I will only continue to get better with practice. Praise em!

17. I plan to do what I love for the rest of my life. I know new gigs & other side jobs will come, but I don’t plan to ever stop performing. Singing & dancing is my passion. I own that.

18. “I am learning to embrace my journey as an artist. Don’t rush the dream AshleYYY!” ~ I just have to keep living it. Everything is a process. As long as I see progress, I think I’ll be good. 🙂

19. I can’t eat as much ice cream as I used to. 🙁 But I’m not lactose either. :/

20. No longer can I eat burgers at crazy hours of the night, multiple nights a week! So long to those days. ( College life was the best! I used to stay next door to the food hall… 1:30AM and the party is over? Oh, let’s go get a meal!! Lol I’d do it again, darn it!!)

21.I now know what it feels like to be bloated.

22. Cramps are painful. (Sorry guys, but I gotta keep it real!) I grew up hearing girls talk about how bad their cramps were. They had to stay home from school, take medicine, couldn’t work out, etc. I even heard one girl in middle school say it felt like knives stabbing her in the stomach. MY GOODNESS! Never knew it was that serious ladies lol from middle school on up, I’ve always been an active athlete (sports, dancing, singing, exercise, etc.) So I just figured that was probably why I never suffered from cramps. Thank God for that! But now & then, I’ll experience the pain they were talking about…

23.  …Which leads to my next point ~ the fact that it’s uncomfortable & sometimes painful when bloating & cramping makes me even more scared about having babies. If cramps are bad, I can only imagine what kind of pain comes with giving birth!! I don’t wanna even think about going into labor any time soon. Yes, I’m scared. Lol (Shout out to all the mothers though; esp. the ones who have more than one child!! Just shows you how strong women are. God knew we could handle it.) ~ One day 🙂

24.  It’s important to have positive people around you. I truly believe that people need people. It takes a village! Love on one another… Disagreements & arguments are healthy, but learn to resolve issues then move on and KEEP loving one another; even if it has to be from a distance.

So I called up Erin to get her thoughts on what she’s discovered these past 27 years. We had a lot in common…

25. As each year passes, I’m learning more about myself & becoming more comfortable in my own skin…Comfortable with the choices I make, how I spend money, telling others “No” without feeling some type of way about it, standing in my truths, recognizing my flaws, & maybe even accepting the things I can’t change about myself (and others for that matter).

26.  I feel like I’m stepping into adulthood…but it doesn’t feel like I’m an adult. Lol I’m still young & learning new things about myself (for the third time in this blog! lol). Does age, having a job, or kids, a car, and/or money make you an adult? I guess we can ask what defines “adulthood.” (That’s another discussion for later. I ain’t got that kinda time right now lol.)

27. I can’t help but smile. I encourage others to do the same… Give hugs; it makes you & others feel good. (Fact!) ~ Don’t let anything or anyone steal your JOY. God is ALWAYS good.

~

Thank Ya’ll for logging on to AshleYYY.com 🙂 and taking the time to read this long ace blog. Lol! If you are new & would like to get updates, please subscribe today! Connect with me 🙂 What have YOU discovered with age?…

Much Love & Happy Living!

Hey World! I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving, Christmas, and all of the holidays this season…Wishing you all a SAFE & exciting New Year as well! But before 2015 comes, I gotta share with ya’ll some of my favorite moments, foods, & experiences of 2014! Let’s take a stroll…

DANCE WORLD >>

Ya’ll know I love me a good dance audition. I love me a challenge and this year I had my fair share of them. The most memorable audition would have to be the ‘Drumline: A New Beat’ 2-day audition. Wow. Can I just say I ain’t never danced so hard in my life?! lol but seriously, ALL of the choreo was so fun, I couldn’t help but enjoy the experience. The competition was on & every lady (and guy) in that room fought hard!

Picstitch 2

Praise God. I also had the opportunity to work at Cosmic Energy Fitness Studio as a Hip Hop instructor (my first teaching job at an ATL studio!) I also go to host an upbeat workshop with Dance Styles, Inc.! I’ve met so many gracious women through these jobs & learned new things each step of the way. Thank You. 🙂

YA’LL KNOW I EAT! >>

Soooo the first time I go to Joe’s Crab Shack I decide to order crawfish for the first time. Little did I know this stuff has the eyeballs STILL ON it! (I can’t deal.) I had to have Edward crack them open for me, then I could eat them without something looking back at me! Lol You feel me? It was good tho! IMG_7305

A FEW HIGHLIGHTS >>

Some of my new experiences included: being a part of Culture shoes & creating our very own sneaker!, working the Green Carpet with Hip-Hop-U-C-It at the BET Hip Hop Awards, being casted in Janelle Monae’s ‘Electric Lady’ music video, and being an extra in the film, Ride Along 2. IMG_7146

FRIENDS & FAMILY TIME >>

Erin actually just visited me for the second time. (Oooh, I thought I was energetic… but have you met my sister?) Lol 🙂 love you sis. It’s always a good time when I’m surrounded by loved ones. More road trips, family time, & game nights to come!

IMG_8063collage2IMG_8053IMG_8047IMG_8018054041

MINI SHOCKERS >>

OTR2

I attended the Jay-Z & Beyoncé concert! Ow! I had never seen a Beyoncé show or Jay-Z in concert. What an experience 🙂 #OnTheRunTour

Oh, I won a rap battle this year. That’s right, you read it right! Lol I always knew I had it in me. (Thanks to V-103!)

PROGRESS >>

IMG_6045dancersopera

I love being out & meeting new people, but I wasn’t taking full advantage of every opportunity. Took me a while, but I get it. At some point you have to break out of your shell (especially being in a new city) and DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. It’s very easy to get comfortable; but you won’t always see change that way. I now understand what it really means to build relationships with others.

IMG_7879IMG_7880

I’m learning to embrace my journey as an artist. Don’t rush the dream AshleYYY! I’ve also stepped out of my comfort zone and began collabing with other songwriters. Sometimes more heads are better than one. I’m also thankful for my team & grateful to have two of the sweetest young ladies by my side, putting in werk! 😉

IMG_7154

PERSONAL (TMI?) >>

hair out From my skin, to my hair journey, to becoming a “woman” lol! (Not that guys! Let me explain) — It’s been an eventful year. No one told me I’d be experiencing all these changes in my late 20s! WTH?! It’s funny, my sis & I were just talking about how we both still feel really young. I mean we are “young”, but we’re older in a sense because we are more aware, career focused, and making sense of life… Ya’ll know what I’m saying, right?

IMG_3780IMG_4833Since I moved to Atlanta two years ago, I noticed all these changes: stomach reacting to different foods (omg), random breakouts (thank you Proactiv),

IMG_4158IMG_6915learning new ways to take care of my hair, sleeping & eating patterns, how I deal with conflict, relationships, interpreting my dreams, how to avoid stress, etc… it’s all so much! AshleYYY - Why You Com For Me?

Nationwide – November 25, 2014 — It’s a testament to AshleYYY’s fearlessness.  This past year the triple threat singer, songwriter and dancer AshleYYY has written songs regularly, recorded multiple features, performed on many stages while not only honing her craft but continuing to build her brand. In the midst of all that, with anticipation building over the last year for new music, AshleYYY has quietly made her way into the studio to record her latest single “Why You Come For Me?” which has been made available to the world today November 25, 2014. It’s not a ballad, nor is it a dance track. It’s a good mixture of both, with vulnerable lyrical content. “Why You Come For Me?” is a story that will paint a picture for you, she describes this song as an “honest piece.”

“It’s funny; I’ve realized how much the “true story” songs end up being so much easier to write. I remember writing the majority of this piece back in 2012, and just how easy the lyrics seemed to fall on the page.”

AshleYYY has the ability to tug on people’s emotions with her strong ballads and her aim with this single is no different. Although this one isn’t a ballad, her focus is and has always been on making great music that people can relate to while continuing to grow in every aspect of being an artist.

“I want to be an artist who stands behind her music and knows what she wants, and knows exactly how she wants it to sound…without feeling some type of way about it when more work has to be done. (laughs) #TeamAshleYYY Always striving for greatness.”

With her new single “Why You Come For Me?” ready and available for the world to hear, AshleYYY looks to have her “honest” music fall on the ears, hearts and minds of all that can relate.

New Music For You 11.25.14 #WYCFM

I think the best thing about being a songwriter is that so much freedom comes with it. It’s liberating. There are no boundaries. The topics are endless and I can go in whatever direction I feel…

It’s been over a year since I put out any new music. (Thank ya’ll for your patience, and still rocking my music in the meantime 🙂 lol) In the past couple of years, I’ve written enough songs to make 5 albums; but there was no need to keep dropping a project every 6 months. My focus has been on perfecting my live show, growing as a vocalist, expanding my network, and pushing myself as a writer. I’ve learned the importance of editing, going back to re-write what I thought was final lol, adding other elements to make a song come to life, and getting honest feedback from others, all BEFORE showcasing it to the world. I’m learning everyday and thankful for my awesome team & the beautiful people God has placed around me.

It is now time to give my people new music. Great music. *Remember, I pinky swore on my last project to always strive for greatness* 🙂 This song isn’t a ballad, nor is it a dance track. But what I love about this record is that it’s a good mixture of both + vulnerable lyrical content. It’s a laid back kinda groove 🙂 …but with a story. The lyrics paint a picture for you. It’s an honest piece…  It’s funny; I’ve realized how much the “true story” songs end up being so much easier to write. I remember writing the majority of this piece back in 2012, and just how easy the lyrics seemed to fall on the page. I’m sure many of you will be able to relate to this story in some way or another…either you went through it, put somebody else through it lol, or know someone who experienced it. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did creating it. 🙂

We will be releasing my new song, “Why You Come For Me?” on Tuesday, November 25th, 2014. It will be available for purchase everywhere digital music is distributed. I would love ya’ll support and as ALWAYS, your down right honest opinion of the song. Until then please repost, share, spread the word, and get a sneak peak of the visuals & lyrics below. Thanks so much! #WYCFM

Get ready!!

My experience at the Singer-Songwriter Retreat! #WSAATL

For the past 2 years I have been a part of Writing Sessions of America ATL. #WSAATL is a national network created for singers and songwriters. I am so happy to be a part of this movement and want to share my experience with you guys!  This past weekend was the Singer-Songwriter Retreat and I took in a lot! Let’s take a stroll, shall we…

Day 1 – VIBE

Marquita and I attended the Icon Award Honors and got to meet a lot of people. Jamie Foster Brown, of Sister to Sister Magazine was one of the honorees that evening. (I shuda got a pic of her nails! They were flawless! lol *sparkling*)

Day 2 – CoCo Studios

What a pleasant surprise… I ran into Brandon Carrillo, guys! Brandon is an accomplished singer/songwriter himself. For those of you who have been #TeamAshleYYY from the very beginning, you know he performed at the very FIRST AshleYYY Unplugged, back home in Milwaukee! He was one of the writers and composers of “Can’t Believe In You” 🙂 )

Songwriter Seminar- The panelists discussed collaborations, seeking placements, and the importance of being a registered writer. Yummy Bingham, singer/songwriter, shared her experiences as a young girl, what she’s learned being in the music industry all of her life, the importance of humbled beginnings, and not needing a beat to find inspiration.

Two of my favorite quotes: “You can never graduate from studying.” ~Yummy

“Have a ‘no matter what’ attitude. Believe so much in yourself that you’ll spend your last dime.”(Don’t let anybody outwork you!) ~Karonna

Producer Seminar- We learned the difference between a producer and a beat maker, how these guys got their big break, being successful in your craft, and so much more!

Great point: Always stay true to yourself as an artist no matter what sound is trending on mainstream radio.

*Fun Fact: Chris “Deep” Henderson wrote/produced “Happily Ever After” by Case. (Even back in ‘99 I knew I wanted to walk down the aisle to this song!! Lol omg). He also composed/produced “The Greatest Sex” by R. Kelly. (Ya’ll already know how I feel about Robert. 🙂 But this song is one of my favorites. How awesome.)

“I be in the club. Standing on the couch! In them Wolf Greys. Like it’s my house – I’M HOME!” ~Miley, 23 – Lol! Singer/Songwriter/Producer, Gordon Chambers, performs his butt off at the Aloft Hotel.

Day 3 – CoCo Studios

Live Radio Showcase – I had the opportunity to perform and receive immediate feedback from a panel. I was so looking forward to being critiqued! It’s always beneficial to hear honest, constructive criticism from others – especially those who have never seen me perform or heard my music before.

Film|Music|Television Seminar- This was another great panel!

Important points: Think outside the box when it comes to your music being on a larger scale / Allen Johnston: Important to learn how to do things yourself. CoCo: Make a way to do what it is you want. Stay focused. Rashard Partee: Find yourself along the way. You may end up on a different career path. Lisa Cunningham: Research. / “You have to stay ready, so you don’t have to get ready.” / *be careful of VANITY in this industry.* / don’t be scared to “give to get” / Troy Taylor: Remember you are a vessel for God!

Soul Asylum

Beat Lounge with Rafael Capone – This was a dope workshop –- and a challenge. As a large group, we had to pick ONE producer, one writer & a singer. After the music was picked, we had less than an hour to write. Everybody went off in their own corner to get in their zone. Each round you had to bring ya A game! When time was up, we had to sing the song for the group and then vote for our favorite verse/hook. (This took a while lol) We narrowed it down to 3 groups because of the great lyrical content from the top 3 writers. I wasn’t picked as a songwriter,  but had another opportunity to battle it out against the singers in the room. I was picked, and will now be collaborating with winning songwriter, Ramar! Whoop, whoop! 🙂 Congrats to all of the winners, especially Hugh, the winning producer… Let the games begin!

Day 4 – Omen Agency

Praise God! After performing Saturday, I was then selected to perform at the Closing Showcase! I utilized my feedback and felt much better about my overall performance this time around. 🙂photo 3 (1)
